I was looking for ways to keep my Damson small and also portable should I have to move before it even fruited. I came across root control bags in the Ken Muir catalogue (£5-95 each). i was going to order one until I saw the postage was going to more than double the price. Has anybody used these and if so are they any good? Have you seen them for sale somewhere else...cheaper?

Haven't tried root control bags, like you, I thought they were a bit pricey. I suppose it depends on how long before you will have to move them, but have done a similar thing which cost very little, it might help you. Used an old piece of bed sheet, put the roots with soil inside, then planted that. When I had to move the tree after a year, the fabric hadn't rotted much, the roots had only just started to pierce it, and it was easy to dig out. That was a plum tree though.

Thats an interesting idea and it's given me another idea i could use weed control fabric.... i bet the bags are made of something similar. Or i could just plant it and buy another if i move but the problem is they take a few years to fruit.
