I know you can chit potatoes and parsnips, but as anyone chitted tomato seeds to improve germination? If so do you do them the same as parsnips?

I see no reason why not but I can't see why you would want to?

If you are having germination problems I would guess unviable seeds would be the more likely reason for this, meaning chitting would not make any difference!

Rather than placing seed on paper I would sit them on top of a tray of moist compost and spray them to keep them from drying out.

Alternatively seal in a transparent plastic bag.

Both ways they would heat 15°-18°C (60°-65°F)

thanks for info, its so I can just put a set amount of toms in, I normally send up sowing a couple more trays than needed, thinking they havent germinated then end up with plants I dont know what to do with. lol

Try this; http://tinyurl.com/ysr4o4 the example are peppers. All I would do then is lightly cover with compost and place in the propagator.
