Hi
starting my first growing year, and my question is, if i lay row early spuds can i then lay row onions next to it,

so it goes

spuds
onions
spuds
onions

or should i keep them apart.

Personally I would plant potatoes all together and the same for onions...
it's more helpful to keep them together when thinking ahead
for crop rotation. :)

Why would you want to do that?

I dont think it would work with earthing up and everything... would prove awkward.

Though my potato patch is covered with a big truck load of manure at the moment and there is no way i will get chance to shift it all...

I think your onions would get shaded out by all the foliage from the potatoes.

Spuds and onions can go in the same bed but as OO said earthing up would be a problem, I intend inter cropping carrots, onions, carrots, onions this is just to try and fool the carrot fly with the strong onion smell never tried it but I am told it works. But Steve if there was a cunning plan then pray tell because I am intrieged now. ;D ;D ;D
