There's been quite a few book recommendations on here lately so I thought I'd add my favourite.......Diggers Diary by Victor Osborne. I always end up reading it again at this time of year, not a huge amount of information but very comforting

What's comforting about it MT? Is it a biography sort of book or a how-to sort of book? ::)
<thinks uh-oh, I'm a sucker for MT's book recommendations> :-[

It’s a biography but reads like a novel, it follows a year on Mr Osborne’s allotment site describing the way he bumbles along doing everything wrong or at the wrong time like we all do and all the way through it gives decent advice on when & how he should’ve done things.
It also has some great characterisations and the stuff these people get up to are very strange but at the same time very familiar.
I find it comforting because it reminds me that no matter what I do, or don’t do, most things are going to turn out OK and at no point does he say ”do it like this” or “don’t do it like that”, he just gently mocks himself and his mistakes. I often dip into it to remind myself what I should be doing on my plot and then end up reading it through again, it’s just very engaging for me I suppose.
I believe it is made up of extracts taken from Mr Osborne’s column in a daily newspaper

Just noticed that you can read the introduction and an extract on the Amazon website, see what you think. The hardback version is now £37 for some reason, much cheaper in paperback though

I would just like to agree that it is a very enjoyable book. Bought it for Mr bj a couple of Christmases ago as he is the lottie boss & then I read it as he enjoyed it so much.
