Is it too much

I have been filling one of my daleks with waste from my chicken cree only. One lot of shavings and straw, and tons of chicken crap too. It is filling quite fast and after starting 6weeks ago it is almost full - mostly of chicken poo. Can I use this purley as chicken fertilizer or is it too much of one thing.

I was intending to fill my other dalek with green waste starting this year.
Questiontime:

1) Would I be better having it mixed?
2) Is there anything fresh chicken compost should not be used on?
3) I have read threads from people who have had a better vegetable from using it, but has anybody had crop ruined from using it?
4) Any negative points on home made chicken compost?

I've found that high nitrogen composts like those made from chicken poo aren't really suitable for putting round trained trees or other plants where you don't want a lot of vigorous shoots, as it does tend to encourage a lot of shoots. It's good dug in where you want to grow leafy veg.

We always mixed it in with the compost heap - it helps other stuff to rot down quickly. I think that a pile of it on it's own will take a lot longer to rot than 2 piles in layers with kitchen waste... based on observations made 20 years ago as a kid!

It's pretty cold at the mo though, so not a lot's going to be happening either way.

and my Dalek blew away again! I'll have to find it a less exposed spot....

We do the same & mix it in with other waste, grass clippings etc, breaks down a treat.

As the dalek is almost full, I will have to shovel half into the other one to allow me some room to mix other things. Thanks ::)
