Between Messenger & Zone Alarm.
Having experienced repeated probs. trying to sign to MSM, searching various Forums has revealed that latest V8 MSM is blocked by ZA.
There is supposed to be a fix in the pipeline but it's a long time coming. I think it's a   Microsoft fault, but they won't admit it of course!
Older versions of MSM(6.1.744.001) work O.K. so don't upgrade yet.
If you have probs., you'll have to shutdown ZA, open Messenger & reopen ZA. Not ideal but it works!

That's interesting to know telboy.

I had my first experience of MSN Messenger last night although it turns out I have version four point something!

Someone has given me a link today to download version 8, but I have Zone Alarms too, so I will give that a miss for now.

Thanks for the timely warning.

BTW I hope you don't mind but I've quoted your advice (with a credit) on our forum since we currently have an open thread running about MSN.

I will delete the reference if you want me to, but it was just such good advice that I would like others to have the opportunity to see it.

Spruance,
Please go ahead!
There is another fix if you'll bear with me:
Start Messenger.
On the TOOLS menu, click OPTIONS.
Under CONNECTION, click ADVANCED SETTINGS.
Delete the entries under SOCKS.
Click OK, and then click OK again.

If you're running XP:
On the taskbar, click START, and then click RUN
Type cmd, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type ipconfig/flushdns, and then press ENTER.
Good Luck!

Oooh! That sounds a bit complicated.

I'm ok on v7.5, so I think I'll just bear this in mind for now. ;)
