It seems like most parts of the country have had/having strong winds. One large Dahlia plant smashed to the ground even though it was staked and tied. Managed to restake another in the front garden border. The ones in the back garden are OK more sheltered although the cosmos have taken a battering. The wind has now died down to a whisper and it  has turned really warm. Greenhouse still standing WHEW!!

tell me about it! sorry about your dahlias though :(

the wind did the same to my sunflowers. they look like they're just come back from war! most of the petals on my clematis have been ripped off them.

my pots keep getting knocked over and my phormium is flat against the ground!

even my half full water butt spilled over and then i had to chase it down the garden and it was rolling over my hollyhock seedlings!

but yes! thankgod the greenhouse it still standing. after last time...i've put big heavy rocks at the bottom of mine.

Thank goodness Tony put some strong posts for the beans our neighbour on the plots beans had blown down. They hadn't been put up very well. Tony managed to tie them up before more damage was done. I've had 2 blackcurrant bushes given to me today. Two year old cuttings. They look great. Hope no-one has had alot of damage done to anything. Heartbreaking when we work hard to grow sommething
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

We only had a high wind for about an hour on Saturday afternoon but torrential rain. Dahlias hit bad and yes mine where staked and tied but still battered and bruised. Most though missed the worst of it. Need to get out and deadhead but working full time and a demanding family is taking it's toll on my garden. Hay Ho.
