We're going down to Jekka's herb farm for the open days next weekend.

Anybody got any campsite recommendations in Bristol/Somerset/Glos area?

This place has good reviews on www. uk campsite.co.uk. If you have a caravan or campervan, ther is a very good site in Bristol City, down by the old port. Think it might be called Baltic Wharf??? Have a look on theabove website, click on campsite search, and put in the area you want. Happy Camping :) :)

I have friends who regularly stay at Baltic Wharf and are impressed with it, I have been there once and it looked really good.  It is a Caravan Club site but I am not sure you need to be a member to stay there.

Good Luck

Thanks guys. We don't have a van, just a small tent.

Besides, the forecast for the weekend is heavy rain, so we'll probably postpone. Don't mind the odd shower, but putting a tent up in a downpour isn't my idea of a fun weekend. ::)

Weather not good for camping this w/end - but coleford in the forest of dean has fab campsite.  It is only about 30mins from bristol - worth a look at.  Just Google camping in Forest of Dean.  Christchurch was the site we stayed at this year, and Bracelands earlier on - both v. good.  Do have to go over the Severn crossing to get to bristol - don't know if that makes any difference to your choice - good luck.

Sophie what a sweet offer :)

Stan, we camped in the FoD when I was a kid, what a beautiful place. I remember feeling very intrepid crossing a suspension footbridge somewhere in the forest, seemed miles high when I was small, wonder if it's still there (and if it's actually only 10ft high ::)). Thanks for the suggestion, it would have been the perfect place if we'd gone.

But with all this wind and rain we stayed at home and went shopping for a lovely new tent instead. Hoping to get out of town one weekend in Sept to try her out, so if anyone has any other site recs within a couple of hrs drive of London (rural, quiet, maybe by the sea?) I'd love to hear them.
