Allotments 4 All

It certainly doesn't look very well...... I've just moved to a house with a neglected and overgrown garden, so I have my work cut out!  There is a Salix Caprea 'Pendula' aka Kimarnock Willow (they left the plastic tag!) that is literally covered in dead leaves, there are tiny yellowy green buds at the base of each leaf, but not a green and healthy leaf in sight.  I've checked through the few books I have but it isn't mentioned. Any help/advice most gratefully received  :)

It could be suffering from the drought. I have a Magnolia I planted last spring which looks like that. I thought it was a gonner, but I looked at it yesterday, and leaves were regrowing. Give it time, and penty of water, as rthe soil, certainly in my garden, is still very dry.

thanks for that Robert, this might be a daft question but do you think I should remove the dead leaves ??  ::)

Only if you wish to. They will fall off in their own time. As it is they are protecting the new buds.

I'll leave well alone then and give the poor thing a good drenching, thanks for advice  ;D
