Allotments 4 All

Can anyone please suggest a way of getting rid of Horseradish. We have taken on an extra bit of allotment mainly because nobody did anything with it for about 8 years, I think the people before like horseradish.  We have tried Roundup and it still keeps growing, the roots seem to be nearly in Australia.  Help because I plan on planting fruit trees with like meadow grass/flowers in the Autumn.

I have same problem, although I own up to originally planting the stuff  :-[
After 2 applications of Roundup last year. I've notice this year's growth is weaker, and I've not applied any more roundup this year, Ive just been cutting the leaves off as they appear. Fingers crossed, it does seem to be getting weaker and weaker. Hope this helps.

I think I may be a bit controversial, but have you considered painting the leaves with neat Roundup or Tumblebug?

That's the way we got rid of horseradish.  Also we had ivy growing through from next door on our side of the fence.  That got the same treatment, and it's frazzled.  The next thing  that is going to get the treatment is a 8' ash tree seedling.

I don't know if it's just me, but the weedkillers we buy these days do not seem as effective as they used to be?  Being the cynic I am, is it more EU interference, or is it the chemical companies' way of making us buy more?

The beauty of the two abovementioned weedkillers is, that once they hit the soil they are inactive.

I have a clump on my top plot.. in the wrong place... dig and kepp digging every time the leaves reach the surface will eventually loose the will to live.. in about five years!
Presume you meant Tumbleweed, as Tumblebug is a pesticide!!!
