Allotments 4 All

My greenhouse appears to be over-run with ants recently, perhaps as a result of the warmer weather. Does anyone know of any methods to get rid of them without the use of poisons? (or an anteater!)

I use talcum powder - cheapest I can find - and sprinkle it liberally around the outside base of the greenhouse.  Works for me - appararently the ants don't like to cross it.  Need to re-sprinkle after rain, but they eventually get the message!

An old fashioned remedy - not very friendly - boiling water  :o

The talcum powder sounds very interesting - I wonder if I sprinkle over the floor of my greenhouse (around the edges).
Yes boiling water does get rid of them, but the scent trail is left and more arrive later on, I find.

not sure if this is classified as a poison-but it is of course-Borax.

Can anybody tell me where I can get borax?

We used to buy it at the Chemists.But that was a while ago.Suppose you could ask .They also would be able to tell you if you can still get it.
