I got myself a couple of blackcurrant trees from Asda going cheap. It says on the box plant out Jan - April.... Can i not plant them out now???? As i believe these poor plants have been in the shop since january!

If I was your I`d get then in the ground now, then in the dormant time ie about late October prune hard this wil stiulate new shoots in the spring. Only new shoots will bear fruit.

Is the plant bare root or in a pot OO?  If it's bare root I'd wait but if it's in a pot stick it in when you like just like you would with a rose bush.  I'd be inclined to plant it a bit deeper then it is now though just to encourage shooting from below ground level.  Lance
Getting there - just rather slowly!!

are they actually alive and showing signs of life (if they've been in the shop that long likely is they've been neglected), either way I would soak the roots in a bucket of water for a hour or so before planting

Get them in and mollycoddle them; give them plenty of water. Soaking them overnight first wouldn't be a bad idea.
