I have just been offered an allotment,we are going to have a look at the plot this afternoon, what i want to know is what should i ask, what will i need to know about the site before i decide to take on the allotment, not that i think I'll turn it down,Ive been waiting so long,it is also plot 13 and I'm slightly superstitious, has anyone else got a number 13 plot,my daughters born on the 13th so it has been a good number for me so far!Becky :)

Our allotment isn't a number 13 but both mine and my daughters birthdays are on 13th april and 13th november.

I'm not overly superstitious as I got together with my partner on a 13th too and we got engaged last weekend  ;D after spending the last year and a bit deliriously happy.........Just need to decide on a date for the wedding and plan it all next!
British Ex-pat now living and gardening in Bulgaria.

i'd recommend the 13th of any month hehe maybe 13:13 wedding....

Your new lottie neighbours will tell you Tales of Doom til the cows come home if you let them superstat ;)
Just keep doing a little as often as you can, and you'll have a lovely plot. In about three years :)

My neighbours (lovely old timers :))tell me every time they see me that an allotment is not young lady's work and I should get my OH to help me as I will never make anything of it on my own. (The "young" bit makes me feel good though ;D)

I just tell them I grew up in Somerset and compared to all the farm jobs I had then, it's really not that bad!

I'm afraid they are a bit like that down my lotty... 75yo woman hubby never helps - unless its to shoot endangered birds or pigeons (nutter!) but she is getting her 1/2 plot looking nice all on her own.

Then theres me opposite - site looks a mess but i'm slowly getting stuff in and OH seems allergic to the place!

Next year i will have it sorted - thats what  i keep telling myself!
