I have a large container of very healthy looking cherry toms.  Good sized plants, green, leafy but with lots of flowers. Problem is only one flower so far has set fruit - that's flower, not truss!!  The rest seem to get a weakness in the stem just above the flower and then drop off  :(    Is this because they're not getting pollinated?  A watering problem? Should I be feeding them more regularly? (I have to admit to being a bit lax about this - hardly fed the GDs at all last year, and had more toms than I knew what to do with!)  Any ideas much appreciated.

sounds like dry set... try spraying the plants with water , fine mist if you can and check they are not too dry, tapping the plants can help as well...

I've also got some very healthy looking Gartenperle plants in pots with quite a few flowers showing but so far....no sign of any fruit forming....the flowers havn't dropped off (so far) but they seem to have been in this static state for ages....have had plenty of water and yesterday decided to feed them for the first time - will now do it weekly. Will also 'spray' with water as suggested from time to time.....seem to be quite a few bees buzzing around other flowers I have in pots so hoping they'll be fertilised ok

I've not grown these before so don't know quite what to expect!

Did wonder if it was Gartenperle themselves but have looked up 'dry set' and with the weather we've had down here it could easily be this.  So, am busy watering, feeding and spraying!  Good luck to both of us!  ;D

I'm just wondering.....is once a week feeding for tomatoes (& courgettes come to that) enough??......and when applying the feed via the watering can, should you water from above with the rose on so that the leaves all get the feed or just around the base area at the top of the planter or grow'bag?
