Planted my first tree - a snakebark maple - a couple of months ago.  This darn wind over the last week has now bent my little tree.  How can I straighten it (and get it to stay straight)? ::) ??? ::) :(

You could either guy it or get a long pole and shove it in opposite the bend. Then use string to pull the tree back upright. Take the support down at the end of the growing season.

Make sure you use a soft material though to tie and check regularly for tightness.

Agreed. The wide velcro tapes are easy to work with.

Thanks guys and gal ;D  Will get my sewing box out tomorrow and see what I can find.  Poor tree, it's bent just above the existing rubber tie.  I could and should have put it at the top of the stake but we're only talking about 4" higher, and I suspect the wind would have inflicted the same damage anyway :(  I think the guy rope approach is what I'll go for, with ties at several points between the bend and the top.
