My daughter has a very overgrown Pyracantha in her back garden that she would like to keep but is not sure if it will regrow from the bottom if she cuts it down.  Does anyone have any experience of this?

It certainly regows from pretty severe pruning, but I have never tried cutting it back to ground level.

Cheers....... thanks for that Eric... they are extremely overgrown and are blocking out the sunshine on one side of the garden so they have to go.

When I say severe I mean cutting back to the main stem and leaving only an inch or two if the side branches. Watch out for the spines though, they are wicked!
