Spent hops as mulch

I've been given about six bags of spent hops and malt and was wondering what to do with them. I've added a couple of bags to the manure pile already but can't face digging in six of them. I've also been given apple mulch which I've bunged on the spuds. I thought of using the hops as a mulch on other veg, but am slightly concerned that it will burn stems. Does anyone else use them?
For myself I am an optimist - it does not seem to be much use being anything else.

From memory I think Supersprout is the resident expert on spent hops! Seem to remember her mentioning it , wish I could get my mits on some..

We used them last year - no problem at all.

Just spread them all over and then dug them in some weeks later.

I live quite close to Fuller's brewery in Chiswick and have been tempted to phone and ask if I might have some of their spent hops.

Now I don't mind having weird conversations with switchboard operators/receptionists and I think this one would rank right up there........but how would I phrase my request??

How do the rest of your source those hops??

Thanks
Sharon
