What a difference a year makes!

I have had my first plot in Peterborough for one year (starting with a meadow :o). It's soooo satisfying to the change from last year to this. Since I stumbled on A4a in Autumn last year, the time I'm able to spend on the plot (I've been away for six months of the last year) has been much better directed - doing the right thing at the right time of year etc. - so the plot has become productive and much easier to look after.

The plot last year (late broadies in the front bed were the first ever crop):



And today:





I have a secret weapon (digging machine No.1 son, see right of second picture). Otherwise, black plastic and plenty of mulch have played their part. And A4a!! ;D
