I was walking home from school when I noticed our local authority has been out cutting the grass.  Rather surprised as we had snow flurries this morning and it is very wet.  Also "Oh no not grass cutting time" went through my head. Not a job I enjoy particularly but that might be because I used to have to cut 3.500 square metres of it everyday. I used to go to bed, close my eyes and see grass!

This time last year, I had cut my lawn twice I think, but it is going to have to wait this time round. Where were you cutting the grass on a daily basis, if I may ask ?
The impossible is just a journey away ...

Working in the dead centre of town  :D

You weren't cutting dead grass, surely?

One of the best kept cemetries I ever saw with various types of grave stones which would be difficult to cut around was in
Babados , When I asked the attendant how did you mange to keep all the grass so perfectly mown ...... he pointed to a group of goats. !!
Cheers Vony.

Vony that made me laugh! I can't imagine goats in in our cemetaries or graveyards but I think it would be very enviromentally friendly. Though people's flowers might in danger!

I enjoyed working there to be honest, once I had got over my jitters. It was a little nature sanctuary. A study in human nature. A bit of history too. I could also skive by hiding behind the biggest headstones.  :D

I can see it now, the goat patrol!   ;D

The reason the local  council where cutting the grass is purely financial. The parks and gardens maintenance has been privatised on nearly every council and the contractors gets paid for cutting X amount of grass area every week in the growing season whether it needs cutting or not.

We usually used to start about the second week in feb. but a late cold snap used to help us out no end. Look closely at the work done, it is mainly mower tracks made to look as if the whole area is done. When really it is just small area of tufted grass that needed tidying.
