Hi All,

I was up with the AP's the last few days & by sheer co-incidence noticed an ad in the local rag for the Border's Organic Gardener's Potato Fair in Galashiels and after all the interesting posts about all those Southern events, I dragged my mum along yesterday.

I bought all of 6 tubers in 3 varieties, which is brill as I will have to grow them in pots, so I will have a salad crop, a roasting crop & a general.  I'm really glad I found out about these days as my usual supplier ( I used go to Scotland & buy my Scottish seed potatoes from an old hardware & stuff shop that's been there for years) closed at Christmas & I didn't want to get stuck with the restricted choice in the garden centres.

There was a clear distinction between those "in the know" who were prepared & had lists & knew the layout, and the novices, who looked a bit stunned.

It was well attended, lots of choice, although fewer heritage and unusual varieties than you may have at bigger events, but I'm a convert & mum will be scouring the papers next year so I can go up that weekend.  One for the diary for anyone else in The Scottish Borders for next year.

Cheers
