Just up the road from my lottie is a big construction site.  so on the off chance passed by and had a word with the site manager.
"any old pallets, off cuts of timber...etc. let us know mate."
"And off cuts of plastic pipe wouldn't go a miss."
This morning I was walking pass and I heard a loud "Yo!"
look back and this youngish chap said I f I wanted to get any scrap I could have a rumage till 12 as he would be locking up the gates.
Fair enough I thought,  and started to browse.
A dozen or so 3 ft offcuts of 6" pvc pipe ( ideal for my show parsnips)
several lengths of  2 1/2 inch pipe,  ideal for carrots
various lengths of timber and 6 pallets.
So I called to the chap,  "could I load your flatbed and you run it down the road?"
"No Problem mate" he replied.
On it all went and he even helped and threw in a couple of slighty split scaffold boards.
5 mins later through the lottie gates and offloaded it all, offered him a touch for a drink, which he refused.
He then told me that when there finish building they normally depose of the big wooden fencing that surrounds the site.  He said he will give me a shout when they are due to take it down, and see if we can have it delvered to the lottie. so expect a lot of bright blue compost bins to be suddenly erected around the lottie...lol

And what a great bloke!  Restores your faith to hear of someone like him after all the disheartening news about vandalism on sites etc.  Try and get him interested in taking a plot SS  ;D
