Typing 'peas' into the search facility will yield lots of useful posts and threads that already exist. This is possibly a good starting point.
The impossible is just a journey away ...

You can start off early peas now - those are the smooth varieties such as Felthams First. You can start them off in pots. Paper pots made from newspaper or empty loo rolls are a good choice as the roots don't get disturbed when you plant them out. Or you could put them straight in the ground, as long as the local wildlife won't get them before they germinate!
The wrinkly, sweeter peas should be started off ab bit later, in a few months time.
Peas are very good for your soil as they fix nitrogen from the air into the soil, and this will benifit the next crop you plant there.
Make the most of today, because you'll never have it back again.

Last season (also my first season, so don't pay much attention to anything I say  ;D) I got mine all off to a good start at home to avoid the mice and then planted out once I thought they were big and strong enough to cope with the slugs and the ever encroaching couch grass.

Or you can start them off in some short lengths of guttering, then when the ground warms up a bit more, dig a trench and just slide the compost and pea plants into the trench.
Indian build small fire, keep warm.
White man build big fire - keep warm chopping wood!

just to add to the guttering tip, i find it best to put some netting at the bottom of the guttering so the peas dont break up when you are taking them out
takes over your life doesn't it
