Is there anybody out there that has used strips of capillary mating to water there growbags. i.e. stuck in water as they are supposed to be and the other end stuck into a growbag. ???

Hi, havent heard of that one, I know some people have used the 2ltr pop bottles filled with water and buried into the compost. need to secure them or use smaller bottles? Whats the problem going on holiday? Teresa

Hi Teresa,

No it was just an idea. I'm thinking of growing some bits in my greenhouse and on one side I have cappillary matting and wondered if I could either sit the bags on matting or put strips into then.

Ok if you have a bucket of water with the capillary matting in strips from the bucket across the growbag under the compost it should work. The compost should asorbe what it needs and the roots of the plants should go down looking for the water. Dont forget growbags normaly have water retaining gel in them so dont get them too wet. Give it a go and let us know how you get on. Remember to keep the bucket full and soak the cap matting first. ;) good luck Teresa
