So, am going to have a bash at that Chilli trial....anyone else going to give it a go?
Or are you all experts????
I have NEVER grown them from seed before! :-\

Well only one of the three was registerable online (the Fiesta one) so put in for that.
Non-gardening hubby's ears pricked up when he heard the word chilli and we expect to be growing silly numbers in any case.

Dunno why we grow so many - we have hundreds from previous years still!

Nothing heard back yet though. Expecting an email if I get a packet.

Certainly am. The OH is actually quite excited about it. He is only happy if he has a particular project to get stuck into with a start and a conclusion, so that is right up his street  ;D Also - loves chillis too so that helps! We have applied for all three lots so will see what we get.

Delilah

We ll be taking part too  :D :D

I have applied for all three.....did the old fart way....ie pen, paper and a stamp...how quaint.... ;D

I used snail-mail too - hoiping to get one packet from three requests, missed the boat on squashes in spring so fingers crossed.
And there were gardens bright with sinuous rills,

We thought that we'd give them a go as well.

Applied for 2 via "old-fart" route and "whizz-kid" for the other  :D
Once upon a time we were the newbies from Harley allotments. Now we're old codgers!

was on GW on Friday night. Go to the website for more info www.bbc.co.uk/gardening

colleenemp

Never done a GW trial before. Always forget to send off and then just as that lovely Ahhhhhhh it's Friday theme tune comes on, I remember and curse my stupid job for getting in the way of more important stuff. ;D

Veggie Mad

sorry to sound silly but how to get the chilli's on line, i have looked around the website (www.mr-fothergills.co.uk) and can't see how to get them free.

Any help greatly received!

Delilah

You need to go on Gardeners World website and click on Chilli Trial, only one is available on-line the other two have to be applied for using pen and paper but it gives the address on-line.

Good Luck

Is it too late to apply.

colleenemp

They are giving away 1,000 of each variety, it opened last Friday and as most are by post (I guess to avoid click happy chancers!) you might still get freebies. However, you can still take part by buying the seed and then following the 'great' Monty's destructions in the Spring.
I just hope I can get the wee buggers to germinate, I usually cheat and buy seedlings! :o

colleenemp

I shall look to you Wardy, if the 'great' Monty is of no use ;D

jennym

Brought mine in from outside, but I think I left it too late - they are looking a bit droopy!
Still, nothing ventured - if I persevere they may revive, there are some good fruit on them, I'd hate to lose it.

Has anyone else got some seeds through? we got 2 lots:

Chilli 'F1 Joe's Long'

Chilli 'Numex Twilight'

Not heard about the 3rd, so I guess we were not successful for that one.

daisymay

I meant through from the GW trial in the post?!?

If anyone needs more chilli seeds/seedlings, I've found Simpsons Seeds very good.  They have billions of varieties in their catalogue.
