Ah yes, the great begging request for jars...

I have dozens in the loft now - it took two years but now folk know to recycle them in my direction and I got rather a lot! But I can pick and choose which are fit to use. I split them straight into pickle/sauce jars and jam jars, as the savoury ones usually have a lid that smells strongly and is therefore only useful for similar things.

Mayo jars are neutral so can go either way.

You can get spare normal jam jar lids from Lakeland which means you can reuse a cleaned jar to either pickle or jam.

I've never made a preserve in my life but i really fancied this so i gave it a bash at the weekend and i now have nearly a dozen 8oz jars of beautiful pinky-orange sweet chilli jelly ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

(I also had a great excuse to go to Lakeland in Canterbury - shame...)

Got a box full of jars - can you believe it my mum had a box full in garage all the time!!!!!!!!!!
