Can anyone tell me- why every time that i open word does it tell me the document is in use by "Camel" ?
very strange and annoying- must be spam ???

I'm sorry, I don't know the answer. Not heard of this one before. I guess you do regular PC housekeeping and clear out yer spyware and stuff.  ;)

RofM, sounds to me like some naughty spyware has found itself onto your puter (it's so easily done with those buggers) Get yourself a good old spyblaster and see if that works.

Is it one particular document or all documents you attempt to open in Word?

Already got plenty of nifty spyware/virus killing stuff. If it is spyware or a virus its not being picked up ???

Hmmmm.  Ok.  Back to the drawing board.  You didn't mention if it's all Word docs or just one in particular?

All of them- thats why its so annoying :-\

Right then, my good man, here we go:

When an IPF or major computer crash occurs whilst using Word, Windows may stop you opening the document that was in use at the time of the crash because one or more locking files may still be active. To resolve this problem, close all applications and then using Search or Find Files, search for the following: -

*.tmp
~$*.do?

Delete all that you find. This will remove any locking files and you will now be able to open and edit your document.

Another tip: when just Word crashes, an instance of it may still be active. To get rid of this instance, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, in the list of tasks, find Microsoft Word, and click End Task.

After a system crash, it is advisable to schedule a full ScanDisk and follow up with a full Defrag.

* is a wildcard - that means it represents a number of characters
? is a single character wildcard - that means it represents a just one character

Sorry RofM, I've been out for quite a while and didn't notice your post before I left.

Whatever .tmp files appear once you've done your file search, delete them.  All of them. 

If you are unsure of it (I know what you mean, following instructions on mass deletions always makes me nervous, but don't worry) don't forget they are still stored in the recycle bin until you empty it!
