Have germinated both this spring from seed - how long before they do the do?  Also, do you think they would be better off in the greenhouse for the summer as they are only so small?

Well, as nobody knows I guess it is a case of waiting and seeing.  Thanks chaps.  :-\

Hi Emma,

They will be better in a cold frame for the summer, and then the irises can be planted out as soon as they are large enough.  The Fressia - depending on if its the usual florist one will be better off going back into the greenhouse in the autumn before the frosts and kept on the dry side overwinter.

As for flowering, the irises should flower in the third year and the fressia if grown on really well (get Mark to wee in the waterbut then use that for watering) will flower next year.

Chelsea was fab by the way - managed to bring home loads of plants, and have your ticket earmarked for next year! ;D

Thanks for that Deeds, you are a star!  Getting Mark to pee in the waterbutt could be interesting...wonder what the neighbours would say!  ;D

Kept looking out for you on the TV when I managed to see the chelsea highlights but didn't spot you.  Did you get a kiss from the hansome Irish man (and I don't mean Terry Wogan!)  I have the whole week pencilled out for next year so I can be your willing apprentice/volunteer.  :-* ;D
