Lacewings and things

I have just found how to make a home for lacewings - excellent insects for eating aphids.

Does anyone else have any tips for making beneficial insect homes?  I hate buying things if I can make them myself.

From the link I opened the home page and typed lacewings into the search which gave me a choice where I found the lacewing chamber.  I am going to have a go at this as I would love more in my garden.

Made mine last night

I made a lacewing chamber last year from an old bird nest box. I took off the front where the hole was then filled it with layers of course cardboard with the holes (Chambers)facing the front of the box. On the front I put some small pieces of ply lowered slightly at the front and it filled up with lacewings and ladybirds for the winter hibernation.
Apparently when insects land especially ladybirds they walk uphill, hence the sloping front. Next time you find one try it its true they always walk uphill?
