AUBERGINE FEAST

I bought an aubergine plant a few weeks ago, I planted it in my vine house, noticed that bit by bit it was getting nibbled at, so I put some wire mesh with spiky bits on top (left over from making cavvy hutch) around it 3" high,  and something still had a good ol' nibble!!! It does seem to have come to a halt, but will my aubergine survive, its only got about half a leaf left, its 5/6" tall and was well on its way to growing nicely before the attack. Do I persist or do I just give in and get another one??? :(

If you want a 'feast', I would invest in another. They need all the growing time they can get.
