Hello all, Still waiting for my allotment.  Seems i have to wait to see if previous tenant still wants it or not. The allotment already has beds dug out so i am wondering what will be the safest thing to grow, regarding crop rotation , as i won't know what has been planted previously. Any help gratefully  ::)received.

There maybe some evidence of what was there - there usually is - other than broken glass and scrap that is  :)

If there's no signs of old veggies then maybe it's safe to proceed.  You have time to sow and plant loads of stuff yet  :)

I think courgettes are easy so I'd plant plenty of them.
I came, I saw, I composted

Definitely potatoes.

Also get something in that you can eat quickly - like wok broccoli. It is more motivating.

Is there still time to plant potatoes? And if so, what kind?
I've found all the references to earlies, firsts and seconds etc. a little intimidating!

I'd like to have a go though, as they seem to be a fairly staple crop.

Thanks for any advice.
