Hi guys, as you can probably tell I am new here.  Got my first allotment about five weeks ago.

Having cleared (lots of blood sweat and tears) and put in lots of potatos I am trying to investigate other things to eat with them.

I have been trying to find a good source for mushroom spores as kits seem really expensive.  Does anyone have any ideas?

cheers

There's loads growing out of my horse-pooh -not sure they're edible though.

Hi Yulchikita,  :)

You can get mushroom spores from B&Q and I think Woolworths had some. They were with the seeds so I guess anywhere with seeds is worth a look.

I didn`t get any from my kit last year so I`ll just be buying spores soon too.

Thanks foir that, I'll keep on the lookout although I have not seen any as yet in B and Q I usually lose the will to live after a few minutes in there anyway...

yulchikita, have just bought some spores today they are Carters of Paignton.  £2 for a big packet, I found them in Poundstretcher, although later went into a local Garden centre and they had some Suttons mushroom seed packets for £4 for a smaller packet which interestingly had exactly the same blurb on the back.
