I don't know what to do. My sweetcorn seeds germinated and were growing well until today when half of them flopped over and went all limp. The others look decidedly ropey too. What did I do wrong?
Any advice gratefuly accepted...

Without more info, I can only guess that it was too cool for them, or possibly overwatering?

It's really too early to sow sweetcorn yet, once germinated the seedlings grow quickly and need to get into the ground as soon as possible with no check in growth. Try sowing some more at the end of april, they should make much better plants.

Bugger - you live and learn eh? I'll try some more later on, thanks for the advice. For the record I think the place I put them was too cold :(

Mine have been in for a couple of weeks, and survived 'skydiving' on tuesday when the plastic greenhouse blew over in the wind.   >:(

Will give them a few more days in the greenhouse then think I will try them on the lower shelf of the staging-type stuff that I have against the south-facing wall of the house. Will cover with fleece if a frost is forecast and just hope for the best.

Will sow another batch at the end of the month too  :)
Lottie-less until I can afford a house with it's own garden.

The kids sowed mine last weekend.  It is in my greenhouse so germination will be suitably slow.
