Not sure about it's natural range Obelixx but the Vendee may be a bit warm/dry for it to thrive...

Hi Saddad.  It does OK here in a dry bed under a silk tree so partial shade at high noon and much of the pm.  Certainly less rampant than in the damper Belgian garden.   Anyway, having learned my lesson about how dry that bed can get I'm waiting for a rainy day to move the rest of the comfrey out of there and into its new bed at the bottom of the potager but, sod's law dictated serious rain and/or cold here since mid December so it hasn't been done yet.
