One aubergine plant does it need a friend?

Bought an aubergine many months ago with a view to grafting it onto a potato.  It failed I need to find a better way to hold the two pieces of stalk together.

However the plant bushed out from below there it was cut off.  It is now way bigger than the ones they are selling in Wyevale for 3.99.

It now has at least two flowers.  Is an aubergine self fertile?

I grew just one Baby Belle aubergine last year which cropped well outside. This year I have been given a plant;  it's doing well in the greenhouse but no flowers yet.

As tricia said it worked outdoors and I guess that the wind and pollinators helped.

So indoors where usually there is very little wind or pollinators  you might be better  helping the plant a bit by shaking the plant branches at flowering time  each time you pass it.

This may help to transfer pollen from one flower to another.

A light misting with clean water could also help the set i.e. potentially the pollen will stick better!

This is just a thought as it works for other plants e.g Tomatoes.
