Somebody gave me a funny shaped hoe as a present. Ta very much says I and shoved it at the back of the shed. Traditional tools for traditional gardening is my mantra. Anyway having mislaid my usual hoe I gave it a go this morning. Well I'll fornicate with my ancient footwear, this thing works. It is a spear and Jackson swoe hoe from their elements range, great for push and pull, 3 edges to get in everywhere and great for close work. Looked it up and it ain't cheap, but if you see one on offer grab it. Even the ergonomics are good. a comfortable tool to use.

That's the one, looks silly don't it. But it really works.

Swoe hoe - best ever! I used to have a very lightweight one, used it to destruction after many years.  Nice farmer next door re-soldered the blade back on for me.  I also found a different one, same design but heavier to use, and with a longer handle, which I've got used to.  They are simply brilliant.

Had to read this twice before the penny dropped. Very funny.
Bit surprised you got it past the moderators.

Swoe's are awesome! I've got a couple, one was my Grannies, which I took over. It's beautifully light, balanced and a dream to use, it's probably as old as me. I remember as a child her showing me how to use it, though she used to get a bit anxious when it was in helpful hands! The other is a more modern Wolf one, nice to use but not so lovely as the older one.

Good you gave your swoe a go  :toothy10:

I've had mine for thirty years and I don't go down to the veg patch without it, it's like an extra hand, wonderful tool. Worth every penny, and I don't spend money lightly!
