My Alderman peas are all through - see, that rain was good stuff!

A few of my shorter peas are poking their noses through, but not as fast, however, I do think Mickey and his chums have been dining on them!

ooo, to add, whilst weeding around the peas, I picked off 18 little black slugs! The ground was so damp and dewy there were little slugs everywhere.  I lost count after 56!  Piled them up on the side of my compost bin and took a brick to them.  SPLATTER!

I sowed my peas in pots indoors. Partly because I wasn't sure if they were hardy, and I was worried about the pests getting them before they got any size, and the ground is heavy, wet clay, and it wasn't even dug yet.

Looked at them this morning and they've all grown about 6in in a day (or so it seems).

I must start hardening them off. And pot them up (their bed won't be ready for at least another three weeks as I have some very busy non-gardening weekends coming up).

Are oregon giant peas hardy? How big do they grow? (I found 3.5-4ft on the net - but that doesn't sound particularly giant to me. Or does giant refer to the pod size?)
gone to pot :D
