in the process of giving my garden a new make over, so ripped out all the honey suckle which was  taking over.  But need some thing to disguise the boundary  wall . So bought some fan shaped trellis  My question  is, could I plant a climbing rose and a clematis together and allow them both to climb the trellis  ? As I cant decide on which to plant there or do you think there ist enough room for both The trellis is about a metre wide at the top tapering down to about a foot

I would rather fan a fruit tree on it. If the wall is facing the sun a peach would love it. You can still disguise it with a Nelly Moser while the tree is growing.

I'd say go for it , you can always keep them in check with pruning. Maybe use one of the evergreen clematis for winter cover.
