Home Guard First Earlies

A local shop has these seed potatoes in stock. If anyone has tried them I would be grateful for their comments.

I like them. They break dormancy very early, so I use them in the greenhouse border to get some very early earlies. Mine are about six inches high at the moment. In the kitchen they are a middle of the road kind of spud.

Thanks Winecap. They sound good for me as I want to grow them in containers in a cold greenhouse

Hi I have only used Home Guard once, and I have to say I didn't like them.  They seemed to be very tasteless to me, and the only way we could eat them was to use them for chips, as they seem very starchy. I know they are an old allotment variety and were used a lot during the 2nd World War.  This is just my experience of course and it sounds like other people have a different opinion. busy_lizzie

yes theres a couple of threads with home guard in just type in home guard in the search bar and they will all come up hope this helps
