My courgettes are still under bottles and doing well and I was planning to let them out today.  But I have just seen some of the night time temperatures for next week.  7c forecast is just not warm enough, it will only be 3 or 4 down at ground level in the middle of a field.   Even with 5 ltr and a few 8 ltr ones they are already filling the bottles.

It was pretty nippy this morning.  I could certainly see my breathe when I went herrrr.

What ever happened to global warming?

When I left for work at 5am this morning it was proper parky.

To my mind that is what is causing this abnormal weather ie one weather condition is changing another weather pattern

I think the word "warming" is a bit of a misnomer.

It's not so long ago we were saying this winter weather is.....very mild!

I can't remember when we last had a year when we had normal " seasonal" weather ie when summer followed spring etc.

Last Saturday, while caravanning in Dorking got up early to walk the dogs, crispy frosty grass underfoot. I asked some of the blokes on the site when we got home but they said apart from a bit of wind, it was perfect growing weather.

We have not had a frost recently but it has got very close a couple of times.  I think it is warmer at night on iow.  Quite a few courgette, squashes and corn plants on site a little bit sad.

Still keeping mine covered at night.  Still a 6 in the forecast for next tueday morning.

It is good to have a good mix of veg on the allotment. If the weather continues to be so windy and cool than it is likely that my squashes, courgettes and maybe the climbing beans won`t do at all well. The brassicas, potatoes and berries are wonderful. Little ice age weather, typical quick changes at the start. Global warming is a universal money making scam

I have a feeling that the worst is over now and weather has turned the new page towards summer :icon_cheers:...and because of my belief...today I FINALLY planted my squashes and courgettes :toothy10:

I thought I've over done my sowing and would struggle to find place for all my squashes...but NO, I actually have plenty of spare spaces left... :icon_scratch: Oh well, I shall have room for some more beans now :toothy10:

Went to the plot yesterday evening feeling sure I'd find frosted courgettes after a few cold mornings but no, the new shoots are looking fine. Phew!
