Just read with interest that Liverpool is to get its first new allotment site in years. The site will consist of 30 much needed plots. Planning permission was granted after the Green Party had objected to the allotments. The spokesman stated that they where all for allotments, but not here, unbelievable. :BangHead:

That's odd! :icon_scratch: One would think that allotments would be well in GP's 'description'. I would love to know what the 'real' story behind it..what they are not telling for the public...?!

The allotments were to be built in an open area which includes a raised grass ridge where you can walk along and see the river and the Welsh mountains.  Unsurprisingly the local residents had concerns which the Green Party, took to the meeting.

The result was that the allotment site will be structured so that the open feel and the public amenity of the area are not compromised.

Much as I love allotments I can see that not every site is suitable, and I'm glad the Green Party can too.

Best laid plans and all that

Difficult one to judge for not knowing the area...I can see argument from both sides.
First thing that came to my mind after reading that article is.. building allotment site for a area that is already 'hot spot' for antisocial behaviour is like asking for trouble...I don't think I would like to invest my money and efforts where there is strong chance it all being wasted. Then again...change might be good for the area.... :dontknow:
