poinsettias

So often we hear of poinsettias going down soon after being bought I thought I would put up a picture of one bought end of November and still going strong. The secret is keeping on the dry side and carful not to overwater. The date today being April 3rd.

That is one very happy looking plant 

Are you going to keep it as 'greenery' and have a go getting it to flower again later on the year?

I used to keep them for several years when I was working in service and had to do plants for the house but now I have no garden let alone a greenhouse so I expect it will just go.

Wow, looks great  My aunty had one for Christmas and it is a mess of stems with drooping green leaves!

Very good my wife's was very similar until last Friday when a soft ball bowled by myself hit it and it lost a shoot.
Hopefully the missing shoot will take as a cutting.
According to the houseplant expert if I keep it dark for 16 hours a day from September it will flower again.
Has anyone done this?

I know all the "experts" say you must have the plants in darkness for so long but I used to grow a collection of different ones and do a large display in the big house each Christmas and never bothered with the dark time. I had them for several years until I changed jobs.
