Wizard Beans questions

How big are the plants, how far apart do you sow the seeds?  Do they survive the winter?

They can get tall - neighbour's ones were well over 5ft. Should be happy through winter and spacing is 6-9 inches.
Sowing mine in a couple of weeks.

Mine tend to be 3-4 foot tall ... and I space them about 6 inches apart in staggered rows like normal broad beans but closer.

They've always overwintered if they've germinated ... but don't leave it too late - sometimes they don't germinate in the colder weather.

Fantastic little beans, hugely productive and delicious.

I had not realised they got so big.  Not sure how they will fare when the wind starts ripping through.  With smaller bean I sort of expected the plants to be small too.

Well they have always been sturdy plants for me.  If they overwinter - they usually only get 6 inches and then go dormant for the winter which means the winter winds won't trouble them too much.

Of course, I was not thinking, they will not get 4-5 ft before it gets cold.  I suddenly had this image of these huge plants tossing about in the wind.   

Looks like I might have started chitting them too soon.  Luckily got them from Tuckers so have loads in the packet, so the first batch might have to be green manure.
