Sick Pear tree

My 5 year old pear tree appears to have a nasty attack of fireblight, - should I a) cut back all the affected branches to the main ones & hope that it will re-generate or b) dig it up & start again. Also what about the soil around it. I also have 2 apple trees fairly close which so far appear ok.
