I buy the multi compost its very good for seeds  and potting on. its got a good all round balance of feed , and a water control all in one bag. I order now ready for  to sow from January onwards. The best deal I found was Creative garden Ideas .com the cost per bag £6.49p buy 2 get 1 free for a £30 order its free delivery so if a couple of you need a few share the cost look it up on line Nealy all are peat free these days

I buy it specifically for starting off shallots that I grow for showing - I pot up just before Xmas. Its a great compost and gives the shallots a fantastic head-start. I mix it with calcified seaweed. Its a bit pricey so I only buy it for my shallots. Cheaper stuff does for starting other plants or those that don't need enriched compost. My shallots stand in polypots from December to April/May so it has to be good compost.

I wouldn't use for seeds - think its too rich.

I've bought Levington F2 +S (+ S means with sand) for seeds. Both are professional composts and in my opinion - superb.

Availability is the problem here in SE Cornwall, I'd use it if I could get it.

Only 1 supplier that I know of in my area and its over £8 a bag. Another reason why I only use it sparingly !

Funnily enough - I didn't go looking for M3 - but this weekend have seen it advertised (1st time ever) in local paper at a garden centre near where I work for £6.50 per bag.

Just come back from local garden centre - and they have it too .................. £8 per bag!

Maybe Levington are incentivising more local outlets to stock it?

:tongue3: This might seem daft but do Levington have their own web site, I cannot seem to find it.

Interesting conversation with a manager from a garden centre today. There is expected to be a compost price war next spring by the manufacturers. Only concern is to get the price down is there going to be a drop in quality or other cost cutting measures at source.

Manager is looking to source m3 in smaller quantities than he would normally have to order.

Fingers crossed.
