I sowed my sweet pea seed as usual on October 8th as I have for many years. Very good germination, I am trying for the first time root trainers, as since I lost my garden and greenhouse including cold frames I have had very poor results. In the past I have done well at the shows but the last two years nothing, we ended up just giving all the flowers away to our neighbours.

Have you tried Erewhon and Blue Shift, Laurie? smashing peas from Keith Hammett in NZ (got seeds from Nickeys).
The Erewhon in particular were stellar (a cross with L.bellinensis, I think, but very unusual)
My seedlings are up for next year.

I buy my seeds from a chap in Ireland as you can buy just how many you want at 10p oer seed. It started when our son wanted to get married and my wife was doing all the flowers and they wanted certain colors for an August wedding. I usually pick the first bunch Chelsea week around 24th May so to keep them going till August was quite a challenge. Pictures of some of my blooms are on my website. We live in a flat run by a housing association the chairman of which I usually manage to beat at the local show so at a tenants meeting he asked if anyone wanted to take the tops out of my plants it would help him.
