seed-sowing schedule?

Do you have a schedule for seed sowing that you could share with me? Or know of a good one for the UK that's available online?

This is actually for the school garden as we're on a mission from the headmistress to get everything organised so we can plan activities for the children to join in with. The children won't be doing all of the work, volunteer parents do most of it (there's only two of us at the moment). And it's run pretty much like an allotment, just with 200 small helpers!

They normally produce a very good seed schedules which helps with multiple sowings, so you spread the crops.

If you look around their website there are other resources for school.

There have been a number of designs for paper plant pots which children might find fun to make.

No the 'Almanac is my personal website.

Had a quick look into the 'Calendar' site and it looks quite interesting,

Just been having a look at the the guide on " planting by the moon" on the gardening calendar link and this is todays suggestions!

Synodic:
This is a good time to sow vegetables that produce internal seed bearing fruits. Tomatoes, beans, peas, peppers, chillis, pumpkins, courgettes.

Biodynamic:
Moon in Scorpio: This is a Water sign. It is a good time to sow Leaf plants like Cabbages, Lettuce, but it would not be a good time to sow Fruiting plants like Broad Beans, Peas,

Sidereal:
Moon in Scorpio: An excellent time for planting, germination and strong sturdy growth will result.


All the synodic suggestions seem quite wrong to me!

Thats assuming I am reading it correctly

In fact as opposed to "sowing" I am " harvesting" most of these at the moment, and the only seed connection I have is In some cases I am saving seed from them!

For example I have saved tomato  and bean seeds up to press and I will collect my chilli and pepper seeds probably next month.



I guess if I were to get my diary out and check my dates with the moon phases I could get similarities i.e. 1st Quarter,waxing and waning etc in respective months,such as march / april  but not in September I'm afraid!


Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

I am pretty certain such a system works, and that lots of people use it but where is the correlation with the time of the year?

Could it be northern and southern hemisphere as I guess those gardeners down under might be contemplating sowing these things today!

The mind boggles!


I think I will  stick to my calendar, as I have done for the last forty odd years!

Your site works pretty good right here in BC Tee Gee, you may be surprised just how many of my BC lottie grower friends  refer to it now.

Someone told me they can grow brassicas now after your help.

It's a small world really eh??
