Hi ev1, posting a pic of this weed that is in my front flower bed. I don't know what it is, hoping someone might know. They have several little corms underneath.

4 weeks ago, I went through the flower bed, dug them all up, tried really hard not to leave any corms behind and now look! There is masses of them.

I was wondering the best way to deal with it?? I wondered whether to glyphosate them? But would that kill off the corms? and would it effect my bulbs that are in there? Or maybe to dig it all out and replace the soil? Or would a membrane cover kill it off?

Oh so that's where my oxalis have run away to.

Thanks Lottie, now I know what it is, I was able to google it. Looks like it might be hard to get rid of tho.

I've got oxalis corniculata, smaller purple leaves and yellow flowers, absolutely everywhere - flower borders, vegetable garden (especially in the asparagus) and in every crack of block paving. We've just had to resort to glyphosate for the paving, I couldn't keep up with scraping it out. Yours looks a bit prettier, at least!

What colour are your corms?  My oxalis ran away but it might have be scared by the oxalis tuberosa (oca or New Zealand yams).  That has now taken over the garden, greenhouse etc.  Good companion plant for tommies I think.

The flowers are pretty.  The rhs site on google tells you how to get rid of them though.
