Leaves curling on Moneymaker toms.

Hi All, 

have a lot of leaves curling on my toms. Have been watering well every day sometimes twice a day. Have door and window wide open for some ventilation. Not had this before. Any ideas why this is happening. Many thanks in advance. Al

Some toms do this in the summer in response to the very long days we get in our northern latitude compared to their original south American home.

Nothing to worry about they stop doing this as the nights draw in.

If the curled leaves are at the bottom of the plant and the plant have a good amount of leaves you could remove them which would make the plant look better and improve the eventual crop too.

My tomato leaves always curl by this time of year, I assumed it was just what tomatoes do since it affects all varieties I grow. I don't cut them off just for curling, only when they go yellow...it doesn't seem to make any difference to the crop. I'm sure someone with more technical knowledge will be along soon...

Would you describe the curling as cupping?  Is the curl downwards or upwards?

With the Tomato there is two types of leaf curl.
One is OK the other not so OK

Thanks for the replies. Digeroo the leaves are curling inwards on the upper surface. Effects the lower leaves only - the upper leaves look perfectly healthy. Mind we were late planting them out and they have shot up.
