Hi Everyone.

Does anyone know why Gardeners World haven't covered Gardeners World Live this year ?
Thanks.

GW Live has been organised by the RHS for some years and is no longer directly connected to the BBC.

The RHS and the BBC have contracts for Chelsea Flower show coverage and we know Monty dislikes Chelsea but loves Malvern and has been happy to go to Tatton in recent years so they get covered on GW TV.

Maybe he thinks GW live is no longer enough to do with gardening and is now more a life style show or maybe he just didn't want to do a plant swap this year.

Having gone to GWL since it started I do think it is a poorer show for the RHS not running it. We used to come home with loads of freebies, watch great demo's and see loads of interesting stalls with stuff to lust after....now the good food show is gradually taking over and only the big exhibitors you see everywhere can afford to attend ...I thought the show gardens were almost an afterthought this year, such a shame.
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

A company called Haymarket runs the show, the withdrew the telly coverage because it cost too much, but it was a last minute thing which has upset the sponsors of the gardens who want a bit of telly coverage. It's the beginning of the end as a gardening show. If you can't get sponsors the pay for the show gardens they will not be built.
