Parking ticket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As part of OH birthday celebrations last week we went to Chester for a meal. We parked & I went to pay. As I was opening my purse the attendant who was at the pay station put his hand on my arm. He was on the phone telling someone that all the pay stations on that car park were down so anyone parking there was covered without a ticket. I asked what was wrong & he said they were connected to the internet & it was down. OH asked if there was a time limit & there wasn't but it was free after 3pm anyway. We had our meal & a wonder & when we got back to the car there was a parking ticket. OH has tried to phone but no person to speak to so has emailed. Has anyone had this happen to them & what was the outcome please?

How annoying! I'm sure you'll be able to sort it out by contacting whoever runs the car park, but what a hassle!

Nothing sorted yet, OH emailed them but they say it will take 4-6 weeks for a reply.

Nothing much to add except, I was, as you was in a car park that was not working and there was a sign up to say it was free until it was fixed, all the best chasing it up.

Oh oh! a ruse used by a lot of councils to take you past the date where if you paid the fine it would be cheaper. Now if they do not find in you favour it will cost a lot more money.

I've failed when appealing parking tickets before (when in Guildford & there were more permits than spaces!) and I've still been allowed to pay the reduced amount I would have had for quick payment. Having said that, I've also usually won when I've put together a case as good as yours. Good luck!
